Halberg Train is now on the CoachMate app, giving teachers, coaches, volunteers and communities the confidence and skills to create fun and inclusive, easy to deliver sporting experiences for every young kiwi.
With CoachMate, downloadable for free on Android and iPhone, coaches and teachers can easily access an array of educational videos aimed to boost their understanding of disability inclusion and its importance, as-well-as step-by-step instructions on the various ways to modify and adapt sports through the STEP model.
Halberg’s Senior Manager James Glen said it was a no brainer to partner with CoachMate when looking for ways to spread Halberg’s approach to modified physical activity into the digital era.
“In alignment with the digitalisation pillar of our new strategy and Sport New Zealand’s Strengthen and Adapt funding, we’re really excited to be launching our Inclusion Training educational content with CoachMate” say James.
Not only do Halberg have 20 games and activities available on the app, we have also worked with CoachMate to develop 10 learning modules, that cover the concepts relating to disability and inclusion to give coaches and teachers more knowledge and confidence.
CoachMate is a New Zealand technology company born on the side-lines of grassroots sports.
Founders, Leigh Kenyon (former New Zealand age group international and youth coaching expert), with Michelle Walshe (sports film director – Chasing Great and football mother of four) came together to create a tool to support the thousands of volunteer coaches to help deliver great sports experiences to kids.
