Make a Difference
Young people with a disability are half as likely to participate in sport and recreation compared to their non-disabled peers.
Thanks to our founder, the late Sir Murray Halberg, we have been providing opportunities to thousands of young Kiwis with physical disabilities to take part in sport for over 60 years. Your donation can help us to continue to make a massive difference in lives and communities across New Zealand.
Meet Charlotte
Twelve-year-old Charlotte from Canterbury has built confidence and independence thanks to a grant from the Halberg Activity Fund for horse riding lessons. Charlotte has Cerebral Palsy and her horse-riding lessons have improved her muscle strength, dynamic balance and overall body posture.
“The strength that I have gained from the lessons and riding at the riding school has made such a difference and not just with my physical abilities but also my confidence, I am a lot braver now and I am prepared to attempt at a lot more things than I would have done before so thank you.”
