BRINGING COMMUNITY TOGETHER FOR AN AWESOME DAY OF FUN
Clear skies, warm weather, and plenty of smiling faces set the scene at Green Bay High School yesterday for the West Auckland All Abilities Sports Day, delivered in collaboration between Halberg and Sport Waitākere. The event brought together local schools, tamariki, and whānau for a day filled with movement, laughter, and inclusive sporting experiences.
Participants rotated through an exciting line-up of sports and activities, thanks to the incredible organisations who came along to make the day memorable. A huge thank you to Fit Hop, Auckland Cricket, Sense Rugby, Hungerball, TriStar Gymnastics, and Girls Who Skate for bringing energy, expertise, and so much fun to every session. Their support ensured that every young person could try something new, challenge themselves, and experience the joy of play in a safe and adaptable environment.
The positive vibes carried throughout the day, with students cheering each other on, discovering new skills, and making fantastic memories together. Regional Advisor Tyler shared just how special the event felt, saying:
“The day was a blast. It was so cool to see everyone get involved. A real highlight for me was listening in to the conversations as the whānau were leaving. Things such as ‘what an amazing day’ and ‘that was so much fun’ being said with smiles on faces.”
A major highlight of the event was the group of student volunteers from Green Bay High School, who generously gave theur time and enthusiasm to help the day run smoothly. From guiding groups to supporting activities and cheering on participants, their contribution made a huge difference – and Halberg extends a sincere thank you to each of them.
The West Auckland All Abilities Sports Day was an fantastic celebration of inclusion, community, and the power of sport to bring people together.
