We are delighted to introduce Anya, a talented Spacial Designer, who expertly transformed our office into an inspiring and creative environment for both our staff and all who visit us. Meet Anya and our new office…

My name is Anya, currently studying in the field of Spatial Design. I would say my interests and hobbies change constantly, and I love discovering new ways of creating. I love the way that design – particularly spatial – is such an open medium that allows opportunities for creation and iteration, and to translate conceptual thinking into something tangible and experiential. My design philosophy is centred around the concept of interconnection. I highlight the ideas of designing for a world bigger than what simply is. When we think about navigating daily experiences, there are a lot of these interesting in-between interactions within life and place that are an opportunity for intentional design. My designs start with a lot of conceptual thinking in this way: such as how materials, lighting, or temperature can be an intervention to appreciate to appreciate space and it’s place in the context of the wider world.

When I was given the brief on the redesign, there was a lot of emphasis placed on building community through space. Through conversations between myself and the Halberg team, as well as seeing the space and how it functions, I was able to establish the purpose behind the design. Through seeing all the positive impacts of Halberg Foundation in people’s lives, there was so much importance in reflecting this in the space and orchestrating it in a way that inspires, honours, and fosters connections within it. There was a lot of iteration involved in the redesign. This was mostly through sketching, CAD, conceptual thinking revolving around making community central. This was then translated into a design collectively envisioned by the team and that reflected the values at Halberg.

I am proud that the space has become an environment that the team enjoys. Incredible work is done in this space, and to be able to honour this has been such a privilege. To create a meaningful design involved a layered and in-depth understanding of the space in relation to people and values. I am so delighted that the redesign brought about new life and fresh perspectives, as well as creating room for expression and connection within the team.

The new look and feel for the Halberg office is definitely a nod to their identity and values as an organisation. It emphasises the tag line “bringing about moments of joy” through the zones that are created within the workplace environment that support work and community. It feels light and fresh! There was so much authenticity and passion from the team in starting this project! As a designer, I wanted to see that come to life with that motivation. Halberg is a remarkable organisation that is so centred on community and positively changing people’s lives, so to be able to be a part of designing their offie alongside them is an honour!
