It was a fantastic afternoon at the Halberg TOP team event last Thursday, as we welcomed a group of new participants to experience Primary Sports Canterbury’s TOP Team for the first time. There’s always something special about seeing the excitement and enthusiasm on the faces of these young people and it’s a great reminder of the importance of introducing new experiences to help them grow and develop.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was watching the participants get stuck into the puzzles and challenges that TOP team presents. It’s always a joy to see them get creative and come up with innovative solutions to overcome the obstacles, and it’s a testament to their problem solving skills and ability to think outside the box.

But it wasn’t just the activities that made the afternoon special, we also got lucky with the weather! The sun was out for most of the event, it was perfect for our young participants to enjoy themselves and make some new friends. Although in true South Island form, a winter southerly hit, bringing with it a burst of chilly air and a timely reminder that summer is indeed coming to an end. But even that couldn’t dampen the spirits of the participants, who were all too caught up in the excitement of their new experiences.

For many of our participants, this annual event is often a first-time experience, and it’s a great way for them to get introduced to new activities and inspire them to get involved in more things within their wider community. As we look back on the afternoon, we’re grateful for the opportunity to provide such a positive experience for out young people.
