TEAMWORK, CONNECTION, AND FUN SHINE AT HALBERG TOP TEAM 2026

The sun was shining and the energy was high as Halberg, in collaboration with Primary Sports Canterbury, hosted the annual Halberg Top Team event on Thursday.

Bringing together 55 students from 14 schools across the region, the day was all about connection, teamwork, and giving young people the opportunity to challenge themselves in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Throughout the event, students took part in a range of exciting Top Team activities designed to encourage communication, problem solving, and collaboration. Whether it was tackling challenges together, cheering on teammates, or stepping outside their comfort zones, participants embraced every moment with enthusiasm and positivity.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing students build new friendships and support one another while having plenty of fun along the way.

A huge thank you goes to Izzy from Primary Sports Canterbury for facilitating the Top Team activities and helping create such an engaging experience for everyone involved.

Halberg would also like to thank the students from University of Canterbury for volunteering their time and supporting participants throughout the day. Their encouragement and energy helped make the event a memorable one for all involved.

A special thank you also goes to Burgerfuel Bush Inn for generously providing vouchers for every participant.

Events like Halberg Top Team continue to showcase the power of inclusion through sport and recreation, creating opportunities for young people to connect, grow in confidence, and most importantly, have fun together.
