Tasman Paddle Day 2026 was our biggest year yet, welcoming a record number of participants for a day full of connection, confidence, and fun in the water!
The beach was bliss, the sun was shining, and the smiles said it all. Tasman Paddle Day 2026 was nothing short or epic, bringing our local community together for another unforgettable day on the water.
With near-perfect conditions setting the scene, this year’s event saw our highest number of participants ever take part. From first-time paddlers finding their balance to confident returnees building their skills, the day was filled with proud moments, plenty of splashes, and a whole lot of laughter.
More than just a day at the beach, Tasman Paddle Day is about connection, creating opportunities for people to try something new, build confidence, and feel supported in a welcoming environment. Watching participants encourage one another and celebrate each success was a powerful reminder of what makes this event so special.
An event this scale is truly a team effort. We are incredibly grateful to the dedicated volunteers who gave their time, shared their expertise, and provided equipment and on-water support to ensue everyone felt safe and supported. A huge thank you to Nelson SUP Club, Maitahi Outrigger Canoe Club, Nelson Surf Life Saving Club, Nelson Harbour Master, and Moana Paddle Nelson for helping keep everyone safe, supported, and smiling out on the water.
A very special shout-out must also go to Rod King, whose tireless behind the scenes mahi makes this event possible year after year. Tasman Paddle Day simply wouldn’r run without his commitment and passion.
We’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year – bigger, better, and with even more paddlers ready to make a splash.
