MILES OF SMILES AT TARANAKI SURF DAY
The sun was shining, the waves were rolling, and Oakura Beach was brimming with joy at our annual Taranaki Surf Day last weekend. In collaboration with Parafed Taranaki, the event once again showcased the magic of surfing, bringing freedom, adventure, and a special connection to nature to everyone involved.
For many disabled young people and their families, opportunities to enjoy water sports can often feel out of reach. But thanks to the incredible volunteers from the Oakura Boardriders Club, the beach transformed into a welcoming and inclusive space. Participants hit the waves in their own special ways, each ride a testament to their dedication and individuality. The sense of achievement and pure joy radiating from their faces was a beautiful sight to see!
We are so grateful to the amazing community clubs and organisations that continually support Halberg and Parafed Taranaki. Their dedication helps make these inclusive events possible. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the families, caregivers, and fantastic volunteers whose hard work and positivity created a truly memorable day.
