We caught up with Regional Advisor Zoe to hear about her experience at the Snow Sports Adaptive Festival. The weekend looked epic, with amazing weather adding to the awesome atmosphere, continue reading for more.

I was so stoked to play a small part in the Adaptive Snow Sports festival at the Remarkables over the weekend. What an amazing event with a beautiful group of people of all ages, from all over New Zealand and beyond. It was heartwarming to see so many new connections and friendships forged across the few days we spent together up the mountain and down in our shared accommodation. This is one of my favourite aspects of sport – the power that it has to bring people together with a common interest and lift spirits.

I loved seeing individuals in the group use the event to suit their own unique goals. This looked like trying something for the first time for many of the attendees, while others took the opportunity to develop their already impressive snow sports abilities further with some amazing support and coaching available. So many hard-working teams of people came together to make the whole event run smoothly including the Snow Sports NZ team and some very kind and generous volunteers.

My highlight was getting to spend the day with our Halberg families! We are so lucky to get to hang out with the most amazing young people and enjoy movement together – the best part of our job hands down. I had the best time following George on the sit ski, and avoiding the snowballs he threw my way when I was not looking in his direction.

Can’t wait for next year!
