Within Canterbury Halberg is leading an exciting accessible play equipment project to get more accessible play equipment into schools with the aim of getting the physically disabled young people we work with more active through play. We have developed a partnership with MENZSHEDS within Canterbury who have generously agreed to help build and donate inclusive play equipment to their local school. This school will have a young person with a physical disability present on their roll. MENZSHEDS also share our vision of an inclusive New Zealand and we are very pleased to have their support. Canterbury Advisor, Mitchell is excited about what this first delivery could turn into for many disabled young kiwis in New Zealand. He expressed “Our goal is to ensure that every child, regardless of ability, has the chance to play and interact with their peers. This partnership is a testament to what an amazing community organisation like MENZSHEDS can achieve when appropriately supported to do so”.
