MAKING WAVES 3.0 BRINGS SUNSHINE, SMILES AND STANDOUT MOMENTS TO TĀMAKI MAKAURAU
Making Waves 3.0 made an unforgettable splash in Tāmaki Makaurau yesterday, helped along by the stunning summer weather that turned on the charm for the entire day. With clear skies and the sun shining, families, participants and supporters were treated to the perfect backdrop for a day full of fun, laughter, and new experiences.

We were incredibly fortunate to be joined by Olympic gold medallist Finn Butcher, who came out to spend time with everyone, cheer on participants and get amongst the excitement both on and off the water. Paralympic swimmer Tupou Neiufi also attended alongside the team from the Find Your Field of Dreams Foundation. Both Finn and Tupou shared words at the start of the event, setting the tone for a day filled with confidence, connection, and plenty of smiles. For many families, having the chance to mingle, chat and enjoy activities alongside these world-class athletes was a highlight in itself.
Out on the water, participants had a blast trying rafting, paddle boarding, and kayaking, with laughter echoing across the water as new skills were tested and memories were made. On land, our friends at Milner Mobility brought along an awesome range of adaptive bikes and trike for tamariki to try, while Auckland Basketball kept the energy high with fun, inclusive activities for all abilities.

No kiwi summer event would be complete without a classic sausage sizzle, and everyone taking a well-earned break to relax, eat and soak up the sunshine together.
A huge thank you to Find Your Field of Dreams Foundation for once again supporting the Making Waves event and helping make events like this possible. Their ongoing commitment continues to open doors for young people with physical disabilities to try new activities, build confidence, and discover what they love.
With such an incredible turn out, unforgettable atmosphere and so many smiling faces throughout the day, we’re alreday looking forward to Making Waves making it’s return in 2026. If yesterday was anything to go by, the next one will be even bigger, brighter and full of even more fun on the water.
