The Wellington Halberg families enjoyed an exceptional day at Lyall Bay Beach on Saturday for the annual surf day, with perfect Wellington weather creating an unforgettable experience. Despite the water being a little on the cooler side, the conditions were ideal— northerly breeze, rolling surf, and plenty of sunshine.
Participants had the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities tailored to various interests and abilities. Some ventured out on the IRB to explore the surf, while others paddled in double-hulled canoes or took to the rescue boards to catch the waves. There was something for everyone, ensuring all participants could engage with the ocean in a way that suited them.

To top it off, a BBQ was set up at the surf club, providing a perfect spot for participants and families to warm up after being in the water or recharge before heading back out for another round of activities.
The success of the day was largely thanks to the invaluable support of the Lyall Bay lifeguards and local volunteers who generously donated their time and expertise. Whether assisting with surfing, paddleboarding, canoeing or BBQing, the volunteers were on hand to offer encouragement and ensure safety throughout the event. Their efforts were instrumental in making the day a safe, memorable, and enjoyable experience, helping create lasting memories for all participants and families involved!
It was a fantastic day and one for the books for all involved. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2026!
