NEW YEAR, NEW GOALS!
As we step into 2026, regional Advisor Max Pringle is looking ahead with energy, optimism, and a clear focus on what matters most – people. Working across Taranaki, Manawatū and Whanganui, Max is passionate about strengthening connections, creating inclusive opportunities, and brining whānau together through sport and play.
For Max, the heart of 2026 is all about relationships and connection. “People are at the heart of what we do at Halberg,” she says. “Building strong relationships based on trust is how we can bets advocate for change and provide truly personalised support.” This year, Max is focused on welcoming new families into the Halberg community, while continuing to walk alongside whānau already connected. A key goal is to see more family-friendly events across the regions – creating opportunities for families to come together, share laughs, enjoy physical activity, and simply have fun.

There’s plenty to look forward to this year. The calendar kicks off with the Taranaki Surf Day at the end of February, followed by preperations for the Halberg Games, a highlight across all regions. In Whanganui, Max will continue delivering All Ability Sports Days for rangatahi and tamariki in partnership with Sport Whanganui, while whānau sports days will roll out across Taranaki and Manawatū with support from local Parafed organisations. The year will wrap up with the much-loved Taranaki Amazing Race, returning bigger and brighter than ever.
Looking back, 2025 laid a strong foundation, particularly through relationship-building with RST and Parafed Networks. In 2026, Max is excited to see this collaboration turn into more regional programmes and events that make a real difference on the ground. She’s also continuing her work alongside local kura, advising and supporting inclusive approaches to Physical Education, sport, and play – ensuring all tamariki can participate and thrive.

For Max, success isn’y only about big events – it’s also found in the small, every moments. Whether supporting families to access Activity Fund grants, awhi-ing Halberg Youth Councillors in their leadership journeys, or bringing new CoachMate content to life in schools and sports clubs, Max knows that small wins add up to meaningful change.
While January brings fresh energy, Max’s motivation runs deeper than a new calendar year. “Staying motivated is easy – I love my job,” she says. “If I can make even a small difference by bringing positivity and light into the lives of families navigating physical disability, that’s all the motivation I need.” For Max, being busy is a good thing – a sign that many small efforts are coming together to create big impact.

When asked to sum up the year ahead in a single phrase, Max doesn’t hesitate: “Stronger Together.” “It captures everything I’m aiming for – collaboration with other agencies, positive and supportive relationships, and bringing people together.” With connection, collaboration, and community at the centre, 2026 is shaping up to be a powerful year across Taranaki, Manawatū, and Whanganui, and Max is ready to make it count.
