On Tuesday 23 September at King’s College, the Halberg team took an exciting step forward in the development of our CoachMate app resource library. Cameras were rolling as we captured the next stage of content, designed to make sport, PE, and recreation more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

Earlier this year, we connected with key stakeholders and current CoachMate users to understand where out content could grow. Their feedback was clear: coaches and teachers wanted more practical, play-based activities that were simple, adaptable, and required minimal equipment. Over the past month, we’ve developed a suite of new inclusive games and learning modules that meet these needs, and the filming day was all about bringing them to life.
The new activities are designed to work across any sport or setting, break down common barriers to participation, and provide coaches with tools that are easy to adapt for all abilities.

Beyond new games, we also filmed a series of interviews with participants who shared their experiences in sport – the positives, the challenges, and everything in between. Their voices are at the hart of this project, offering real-world advice for teachers, coaches, and volunteers while challenging perceptions around disability and inclusion.
These stories will sit within our expanded learning content, exploring different impairment groups in greater depth, as well as highlighting the diverse settings in which people with disabilities want – and should – have the opportunity to participate.

The refreshed content will also introduce a new layout in the app, making it easier than ever for users to navigate and apply what they learn. The rollout of the new content will begin mid-October and continue through December, and we’re excited to share it with the CoachMate community. Whether you’re a returning user or new to the app, we encourage you to download CoachMate and explore the updated tools that support inclusive sport and recreation.
