Equipment
Either the adaptation or modification of equipment or the purchase of disability specific equipment.
- Applications for equipment for costs up to $4,000
- For larger or more expensive equipment (eg. Trikes) where additional funding has been sourced, supporting evidence must be attached to your application e.g. a confirmation letter from Lotteries or confirmation of a grant from a trust
- All equipment, where possible, should be trialled for suitability before application
- Customs and freight costs for equipment sourced outside New Zealand will not be eligible for funding
- Must be ‘entry level’ equipment. Please discuss with your local Adviser
Meet Luca
Born at 27 weeks, balance was hard — but thanks to Halberg, Luca’s now riding strong. “He is much more confident now that he ever was on his standard bike. He is riding to school every day just like his peers”
Lessons or Coaching
Could be group or individual lessons/coaching and could be within school time, within a club or with a private coach.
- Applications for lessons for costs up to $2,000
- Lessons applications will be considered for ‘entry level’ only, please discuss with your local Adviser
- First time applicants can apply for two consecutive terms eg. swimming lessons for Term 2 and Term 3. This should be reflected in the quote attached to the application. Only one type of activity per first time application (eg. not swimming Term 2 and gymnastics Term 3)
- Applicants cannot apply for current term lessons in the middle of that term, they must be submitted prior to the start of term, and clearly state which term is being applied for:
- Apply in April meeting for Term 2 Lessons
- Apply in June meeting for Term 3 Lessons
- Apply in September for Term 4 Lessons
- Apply in November for Term 1 Lessons
Meet Isobel
Born with an upper limb difference, but that hasn’t stopped her. With Halberg’s help, she’s thriving in horse-riding lessons, gaining strength and confidence. “When I first started I was quite weak and couldn’t do everything I wanted to but I’m getting stronger.”
Camp
Additional costs associated with the young person attending the camp. For example, to cover the cost of a support person, parent or teachers aid at the camp.
- Applications for camps are for costs up to $1000
- Personal Action Plan ‘PAP’ should be completed for camp applications. These are available for download here, or by contacting your local Adviser
- Camp entry fees for the attendee will not be eligible. Fees may be considered for a support person if they are there solely to support the recipient
- Only one successful camp application per academic school year
- You will need the PAP documents in an electronic format to upload during the online application process. If you do not have these documents in an electronic format, or you require assistance completing the online form, please contact your local Adviser for assistance.
Meet Jack
