The ISPS Handa Halberg Awards, New Zealand’s most prestigious celebration of sporting excellence, is proud to announce a new addition to its award lineup for the 62nd edition. This year, in partnership with CityFitness, we are introducing an award dedicated to recognising individuals that have made a significant impact on their disability sport communities across Aotearoa.

In keeping with the legacy of Sir Murray Halberg, this new award embodies the values of inclusivity and empowerment. It aims to honour those who have worked tirelessly to break down barriers, create opportunities, and champion the participation of people with disabilities in sport. Whether it’s through coaching, advocacy, innovation, or other contributions, this award will celebrate those driving change and making sport accessible for all.

CityFitness, a leader in promoting health and fitness across the country, is proud to support this award. As a company committed to making fitness accessible to everyone, CityFitness aligns perfectly with this new recognition. Their support highlights the importance of community involvement and inclusivity in all areas of life, including sport.

The 62nd ISPS Handa Halberg Awards will recognise and celebrate New Zealand’s top athletes, coaches, teams, and now, those making a difference in disability sport. Nominations for the Sir Murray Halberg Legacy Award are now open, and we encourage anyone in New Zealand to submit their entries.
